Peterson Wealth Services would like to recognize our own, Shaun Peterson, and congratulate him on receiving the most recent CDFA® (Certified Divorce Financial Analyst) designation. After hundreds of hours of studying and passing four exams, he joins Billy Peterson as one of only a handful of Certified Divorce Financial Analysts in the state of Utah. As all of you know, Shaun has been a financial advisor for six years and during that time, has had the opportunity to help our clients define their financial goals, build a financial plan and keep them on course for retirement. With any plan, however, there are sometimes bumps in the road, one of those being the unforeseen financial ramifications of divorce.
This is where the CDFA® steps in. A Certified Divorce Financial Analyst is growing increasingly popular in the divorce industry. He is the financial “professional” in the room. The job of a CDFA is to gather, organize and analyze financial material, help to identify assets and project several different settlement scenarios to show what is in the clients’ best long-term interest. He or she can work just one party or work hand-in-hand with both parties as an intermediary. A CDFA® shouldn’t take the place of an attorney but can work along with them if that is the route chosen.
Getting divorced is one of the biggest financial decisions one can ever make. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, reach out to us. We would welcome the opportunity to help craft your unique financial settlement.
